Our client, a successful eCommerce business, is looking for a Director of Private Label to lead a team doing market research, sourcing, product development, QA, eCommerce sales, and inventory management.
The ideal candidate must be a detail-oriented leader who takes pride in developing high-quality products, is tech-savvy, and has an extensive understanding of private label sourcing and development.
Responsibilities:
- Drive the sourcing and supplier selection process, negotiate contracts and pricing, and manage the project from concept to product launch
- Oversee the design, specification, and production of private labels including merchandising strategies, budget, sales targets, and profit objectives
- Collaborate with the project management team to expand and develop new SKU lines while partnering cross-functionally with the Creative and Marketing teams
- Negotiate the best price and contract terms while working with our QA department to choose only trustworthy, top-tier suppliers.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies including contingency plans, data reporting, pricing, margins analysis, and supply chain efficiencies
- Collaborate with buying team, finance, marketing, operations, and transportation, in order to strengthen brand equity, boost category sales, boost margins, and ensure customer satisfaction
- Develop negotiation strategies to deliver against business objectives and achieve sustainable relationships with suppliers
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of sourcing and/or product development experience and expertise in building and nurturing private-label brands are required
- Strong background in eCommerce product categories, Product Development, Marketing, Retail, Manufacturing, Category Management, and Logistics
- Ability to oversee several projects at once requiring constant communication, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven experience in developing long-term relationships, and negotiating strategic agreements to ensure constant cost and quality improvements
- Strong analytical abilities, including the capacity to extract, synthesize and evaluate, and draw conclusions from a variety of data sources.
- Exceptional command of English for both verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, great attention to detail, and multi-tasking abilities are necessary
